"Holy Smokes" is a cute expression that April uses frequently and I thought it was extremely fitting in this situation! We headed out of town last week on another "spread the word of our adoption" trip, but struggled with all the smoke in the air from the California, Utah, and Pacific Northwest fires. Salt Lake City, UT, which is about 45 minutes north of us, literally had the worst air quality in the world on August 9th according to some news reports! Yikes!!
We were hoping to get out of the smoke as we drove to our destination. Here are some pictures of us racing to get out of the smoke! We finally beat it about 2.5 hours south of here, but it caught back up to us later that night.
It certainly limited what we could do and still be safe with such air pollution. But despite the smoke, the search for our baby through adoption must go on :)
